At Broekhof, we strive to move from a linear economy towards a circular economy. By looking at existing products and business models from a new angle, we can accelerate the circular transition. We do this by constantly pushing ourselves and our clients to go the extra mile.
Linear economy
In a linear economy, we create maximum value by producing and selling as many products as possible. The linear economy largely adheres to the traditional “take-make-dispose” model. In this model, raw materials are extracted, processed into consumer items and then disposed of as waste.
Circular economy
In a circular economy, value is created by focusing on value retention. A circular economy therefore requires us to adopt new business models with a focus that is geared more towards services rather than products. A circular economy utilises the 3R approach: reduce (minimising the use of raw materials), reuse (reusing products) and recycle (recycling raw materials as optimally as possible).
We are working towards a circular economy by developing circular pool systems and, at the same time, trying to close our material cycle as much as possible and make our products more recyclable.

CircularBag®
Made of 90% recycled plastic, 100% recyclable
For flower processors, the CircularBag® represents an efficient and affordable solution for having their plastic waste recycled in a sustainable manner. The bags are made out of 90% recycled plastic and intended for the collection of plastic waste, such as flower and plant sleeves, flower film and shrink film. Full bags are returned from all over Europe via the existing distribution network to the Dutch flower auctions for processing into the 100% recycled Recy® flower sleeves.

Recy® flower sleeve
Made of 100% recycled flower sleeves, monomaterial, 100% recyclable
Recy sleeves are made out of 100% recycled plastic flower sleeves that are collected on the Dutch flower auctions using the CircularBag®. Recy sleeves are the perfect packaging solution with which to optimally protect flowers during transport without harming the environment in any way. The Recy flower sleeve is an excellent example of innovation in the field of circular packaging and an ideal alternative to our regular plastic sleeves made out of fully recyclable monomaterial.
Recy® Kraft Look
Contains 50% recycled material, monomaterial, 100% recyclable
The Recy® Kraft Look flower sleeve represents the latest development in the field of sustainable flower sleeves. The back of the sleeve is made out of 100% recycled plastic that is collected at and via the Dutch flower auctions. The transparent front retains the product's aesthetic value. The Recy Kraft Look is an excellent result coming out of a closer material loop. On top of that, the sleeve's monomaterial (with kraft look) can be recycled again and again on a large scale after use. The Recy flower sleeve is the perfect solution for any horticulture company looking for more sustainable flower sleeves.
